'Monarch of the Glen'

Monarch of the Glen is a half sheet watercolor impression of The Watchman in Zion Canyon. Though these peaks were shaped by time and erosion — the river patiently carrying away all softer material — they stand now as monuments, rising out of the earth with a quiet majesty. Their forms seem to pierce the heavens, as if reaching beyond the temporal toward something eternal. I was aiming to merge both majesty and serenity; a reminder that even what is worn away can give rise to enduring beauty. 

½ sheet watercolor painting (20" x 27" or vice versa) on Arches 140 LB rough watercolor paper. Ships flat, not rolled with plain white mat.
